In recognition of the importance of children, Mary Mother of the Church celebrated a Children’s Mass on October 7, 2007, at 8:00 a.m. The children, with the help of the parish youth, carried out the little tasks that ensure a successful liturgical celebration; from taking charge of collection plates to the readings. Shyly and, at times, bewildered by what had to be accomplished, the children orchestrated and created a very special Mass. The Children’s Mass was inaugurated in connection with the recent formation of the Children of Mary Choir, which led the congregation with fervent and crystal clear voices singing meaningful hymns. About two months before the Children’s Mass, children between 7 and 15 years of age began attending choir practice every Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and leading the singing every first and fifth Sunday at the 8:00 a.m Mass.
The Children of Mary Choir is also involved in bringing joy to the community by performing for elder citizens in Nursing Homes.
